MIAMI — U.S. Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez has withdrawn as co-chair of the Congressional Pals of Spain Caucus, citing the Spanish authorities’s more and more hostile actions towards Israel and what he described as its undermining of bilateral ties with the US.
Gimenez introduced the choice Tuesday in a press release from his workplace. In a letter to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, the Florida Republican mentioned Spain’s latest insurance policies in opposition to Israel and the Israeli army are incompatible with the democratic values the caucus was fashioned to advertise.
