MIAMI – Florida Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez was chosen because the interim president of Florida Worldwide College by the college’s Board of Trustees Friday.
FIU’s Board of Trustees met Friday morning and voted to nominate Nunez because the interim chief, changing Kenneth Jessel, who had served because the college’s president since 2022.
“I’m honored to be chosen as Interim President of Florida Worldwide College by the FIU Board of Trustees,” Nunez mentioned.
“As a two-time alumna and a proud Panther mother, I’m deeply dedicated to the success of FIU. I sit up for working with the Board of Trustees within the coming days,” she mentioned.
The Republican Get together of Florida congratulated Nunez.
“You may have been a daring and influential chief for our nice state and we all know you’ll convey Florida Worldwide College to new heights,” the Florida GOP mentioned.
Gov. Ron DeSantis additionally congratulated Nunez, saying he is aware of she is going to do an “excellent job on the helm.”

Nunez is a proud alumna of Florida Worldwide College, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Worldwide Relations and Political Science, in addition to a grasp’s diploma in Public Administration.
FIU is a member of the State College System. Final January, the college disbanded its Division of Variety, Fairness, and Inclusion in mild of a rule accredited by the Florida Board of Governors.
