TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida lawmakers are contemplating a proposal to call a piece of state roadway in honor of conservative chief and Turning Level USA founder Charlie Kirk, recognizing his nationwide impression on youth civic engagement and conservative activism.
What it does: SB 174 would designate a portion of a state transportation facility as “Charlie Kirk Memorial Avenue.”
- The Florida Division of Transportation is required to put in applicable markers alongside the roadway.
- The designation is honorary and doesn’t have an effect on the official operational title of the highway.
Sponsor: The invoice has been filed by Republican Sen. Ana Maria Rodriguez. A Home model has been filed. HB 33, filed by Republican Rep. Juan Porras.
What they’re saying: Supporters of the invoice say the memorial naming would function an enduring tribute to Charlie Kirk’s legacy as a distinguished voice for younger conservatives and his affect on American political discourse.
If handed, the designation would take impact July 1, 2026.
The legislative session begins Jan. 13.
