TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis has ordered U.S. and Florida flags to be flown at half-staff on Monday, Sept. 29, in honor of Florida Freeway Patrol Trooper Craig Gaines, who died from accidents sustained within the line of responsibility.
Gaines, a veteran of each the U.S Navy and the Florida Freeway Patrol, was remembered as a hero who devoted his life to service. He joined the Florida Division of Freeway Security and Motor Automobiles in 2008 after serving within the Navy, and spent practically 20 years defending Florida communities. He’s survived by his spouse of 28 years and three kids.
“He lived a lifetime of service and will probably be remembered for his unwavering power, compassion, and dedication to these he liked,” the governor’s workplace mentioned in an announcement.
Flags will probably be lowered on the Division of Freeway Security and Motor Automobiles headquarters and Troop H headquarters in Tallahassee, in addition to on the Gadsden County Courthouse and Quincy Metropolis Corridor. The order applies from dawn to sundown on Monday.
