PALM BAY, Fla. – Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey says the first function of presidency is to guard its residents — and when that fails, many Individuals are left with few choices to flee unsafe communities.
Talking on Florida’s Voice Radio with Drew Steele, Ivey burdened that public security ought to be authorities’s prime precedence.
“Authorities’s one and solely duty is to guard its residents. That’s it,” Ivey stated. “And when that fails, not each citizen can pack up and transfer to Florida. Not each citizen has the monetary means to try this. Not each citizen has the household ties or disconnects to try this. So to these folks we as a nation owe it to them to guard them.”

Ivey stated he sympathizes with households in crime-plagued areas who can’t safely use parks or public areas because of gang and drug exercise.
“You are feeling dangerous for households that their children can’t even go to the park as a result of they’re anxious about being caught in a crossfire,” he stated.
The sheriff credited Florida for taking “precautions” to guard residents and preserve public security, contrasting it with areas the place he believes authorities has failed in that function.
