KEY WEST, Fla. – Monroe County College District says it has taken “applicable motion” following a social media publish by a district worker that criticized conservative activist Charlie Kirk shortly after his assassination.
The publish, allegedly attributed to Brett Fink, appeared on the Instagram account @thesouthernmostfink. It included a photograph of Kirk alongside the Bible verse Luke 6:22-23, which references heavenly reward. Within the caption, the account’s creator wrote:
“The concept this racist, sexist, evil piece of 💩 would find yourself in heaven is a perversion of something resembling Christianity. If that’s who’s going to be there, depend me out.”
The publish circulated on social media and prompted a public concern because of Fink’s place throughout the faculty district.
Florida’s Voice reached out to Monroe County district officers to verify Fink’s employment standing and whether or not it was conscious of the social media publish. In an announcement, the district acknowledged the difficulty and mentioned it had taken steps to handle the matter.
