WASHINGTON – In a vote Wednesday night time, Florida Republican Rep. Cory Mills joined Democrats and three different Republicans in stopping Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar from being censured by the Home and faraway from her committees.
The vote was concerning whether or not or to not desk a measure introduced by Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., “Censuring Consultant Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and eradicating her from the Committee on Schooling and Workforce and the Committee on the Finances.”
Mills joined Republicans Mike Flood of Nebraska, Jeff Hurd of Colorado, and Tom McClintock of California.
He cited free speech grounds for his vote.
The trouble to proceed with Mace’s decision failed by only one vote, 214-213.
Mace introduced the decision after Omar’s reported feedback on Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
“Ilhan Omar has proven us precisely who she is: somebody who defends political violence and refuses to sentence the lack of harmless lives when it doesn’t go well with her agenda, even the cold-blooded assassination of Charlie Kirk,” Mace had mentioned.
Omar reportedly shared a video calling Kirk a “stochastic terrorist” and seemingly justifying the assassination.

Mills defended the vote, arguing, “The 7 Articles and 27 Amendments of our Structure are usually not solely to be adopted when it serves your objective. In contrast to with Rep McIver, whom is accused of assault and obstruction of LEO, which I supported to not desk, this can be a 1A subject. We might not like or agree with what somebody says, however that doesn’t imply we should always deny their 1A Proper.”
A pair days after the assassination, Mills filed a decision condemning the assault and providing condolences to the Kirk household.
